THE GOLDEN LOTUS

Acrylic on plaster, fibers, glass, & wax hung on wood support 2011 “Beauty is pain.” Dangling limbs hung at a familiar height, bound with shards of glass, encased in dripping wax, resembling that of a withered lotus pod. Modeled after the chinese tradition of foot binding.
